April of mornings

These bird-trees that surround the house host all of them this morning: woodpecker, blue jay, robin, cardinal. It is the kind of spring morning that becomes a second skin; you enter it and suddenly you are showered by its palpable presence, and, then, it enters you. Somehow even the sky seems closer to the earth.
